Is acupuncture painful?

No, acupuncture is not meant to be painful.  When needles are inserted into acupuncture points, patients often feel a vibration, a tingle sensation, or even a dull ache.  However, patients may not even feel any sensation.

What happens in an acupuncture session?

Dr. Swartz evaluates your condition using traditional Chinese tongue and pulse diagnosis.  Acupuncture needles are then placed in specific acupuncture points around the body determined by the doctor to rebalance the “qi”.  The patient is provided a relaxing environment in which to receive treatment for 15-20 minutes.  The needles are then removed and disposed of.  When the treatment is over, the patient leaves feeling relaxed & more focused.
